The Immigration Services Agency (ISA) has started issuing certificates of eligibility by Email.  

As a result, it is no longer necessary to send the original CoEs (hard copies) to the applicants overseas, but the applicants can apply for a visa simply by presenting the emailed CoE at the Japanese embassy.

在留資格認定証明書（CoE）が電子メールによる発行されることになりました。これにより、CoE原本を海外にいる申請者に送る必要がなくなり、さらに日本大使館でのビザ申請時に電子メールを提示すればよくなりました。
